Metropolitan prepares for 2025 Arts Week to promote young talent

ADDIS ABABA –Preparations are underway to hold the citywide 2025 Arts Week in the capital to promote young artists, the Addis Ababa Culture, Arts, and Tourism Bureau announced at a press briefing yesterday.

During the briefing, Bureau’s Arts Presentation and Events Production Director Solomon Denu stated that the festival will be held for the 16th time from June 14 to 16, 2025, under the theme “Art for the Revival of Ethiopia,” at the Addis International Convention Center, with more than 500,000 city residents expected to attend.

The Bureau has been organizing festivals and other events for 15 years in collaboration with stakeholders. This year, various artistic works will be showcased to highlight the country’s positive image, he noted.

He explained that the main objectives of the festival are to showcase artistic talent, recognize professionals, and reward both amateur and professional artists. The event also promotes art institutions, engages stakeholders, and celebrates cultural festivals, while fostering a sense of unity among youth and the broader community through art.

The event aims to promote young artists with the participation from woreda level. He added that several programs will be held to strengthen bonds of brotherhood and friendship within the community.

Solomon also mentioned that there will be competitions in 21 categories, with more than 3,000 participants expected.

He added that the Arts Week festival in the capital city will feature photography fairs, art exhibitions, music performances, film festivals, and symposiums.
