Ethiopian community week in Abu Dhabi celebrates rich heritage, unity

ADDIS ABABA – The 3rd Ethiopian Community Week in Abu Dhabi came alive with vibrant celebrations that highlighted the depth and diversity of Ethiopia’s cultural heritage.

The week-long event featured traditional music, dynamic dance performances, and displays of colorful Ethiopian attire, attracting both Diaspora members and the wider Abu Dhabi community.

The celebration served as a powerful platform to promote unity, pride, and cultural connection among Ethiopians living in the United Arab Emirates.

Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Dubai and the Northern Emirates, Aklilu Kebede, emphasized that such events are essential for strengthening solidarity among Ethiopians abroad. He encouraged the Diaspora to stay united and actively contribute to Ethiopia’s development, particularly during challenging times.

“Our shared culture is a foundation for unity, and our collective efforts can have a tangible impact on our homeland,” he said.

Also speaking at the event, Uamar Hussen (PhD), United Arab Emirates Ambassador and Special Envoy, praised the Ethiopian community for its resilience and continued commitment to national development. He highlighted the significance of fostering stronger ties between Ethiopian businesses in Abu Dhabi and those in Ethiopia.

“This community week is more than a cultural celebration—it is a vital platform for building economic partnerships and expanding business-to-business collaboration,” he noted.

With its mix of cultural expression, community spirit, and economic dialogue, the 3rd Ethiopian Community Week served as a reminder of the power of cultural heritage in uniting people across borders. It also reaffirmed the Diaspora’s vital role in preserving tradition while contributing meaningfully to Ethiopia’s growth.
