ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has recently appointed Getachew Reda as his advisor on East African affairs with the rank of minister, effective Friday, April 11, 2025, the Office of the Prime Minister announced.

The appointment is seen as a strategic move, drawing upon Getachew’s extensive experience in governance, diplomacy, and regional affairs. His academic credentials and leadership background are said to align well with the responsibilities of the new role, which involves advising on the complex and dynamic geopolitical landscape of East Africa.
