Danish Ambassador : Ethiopia pioneers green initiatives, sets global example

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia is emerging as a global leader in green initiatives, setting a powerful example for other nations striving to transition toward sustainable economies, said Royal Danish Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sune Krogstrup.

In an exclusive interview with The Ethiopian Herald, Ambassador Sune emphasized the growing partnership between Ethiopia and Denmark, particularly in the areas of green development, trade, and investment.

“Ethiopia’s commitment to the global green agenda is commendable,” the ambassador noted. “It stands as a model for others, and Denmark is proud to partner with the Ethiopian government in advancing sustainability efforts.”

He further explained that Denmark and Ethiopia share a strong foundation of cooperation, with numerous untapped opportunities ahead. “We look forward to deepening our engagement, especially in sectors that drive sustainable development.”

The ambassador highlighted Denmark’s longstanding support to Ethiopia through its country programs, which have focused on agriculture and social safety nets. “We are currently preparing a new country program, which will continue to strengthen these critical areas,” he stated.

On the topic of business and investment, Amb. Sune expressed optimism about Ethiopia’s reform efforts. “We are hopeful that the ongoing reforms will improve the business climate and attract more international investors, including Danish companies.”

Responding to a question on dairy and livestock collaboration, the ambassador pointed out Denmark’s global reputation in dairy production. “We are actively supporting the promotion of Ethiopia’s livestock sector and agriculture. Danish companies bring extensive expertise in dairy, and we see great potential for collaboration in this area.”

He concluded by expressing hope that such initiatives will inspire more Danish investment in Ethiopia, particularly in the dairy industry, further strengthening the economic ties between the two nations.
