Academy to unveil research findings on socio-economic affairs

-To hold 4th conference on problem-solving studies

ADDIS ABABA – The findings of five problem-solving research studies conducted on various social and economic issues in Addis Ababa will be unveiled this weekend, the Addis Ababa Leadership Academy has announced.

At a press conference held yesterday, the Academy’s Research and Development Director, Abinet Fulasa (PhD), told the media that the 4th city-based research conference of the Addis Ababa Leadership Academy will take place in Adama city from April 5-6, 2025, under the theme “Problem-Solving Studies for Our City’s Prosperity.”

The conference aims to present the latest research findings to stakeholders, discuss the implementation of corrective measures in various sectors based on previous study recommendations, and gather new research ideas, he stated.

According to the Director, five problem-solving research findings will be presented on leadership efficiency, the successes and challenges of public engagement initiatives, the impact of illicit trade on consumers, the effectiveness of support for enterprises, and dry waste management in the city.

He further noted that the academy conducts research, capacity-building activities, consultations, and community support for institutions under the city administration, as well as their human resources.

Highlighting the academy’s role in organizing educational seminars, workshops, and conferences, Abinet pointed out that three previous city-based research conferences have been instrumental in promoting knowledge sharing.

He added that this year’s conference is particularly notable for its diverse studies on social and economic issues, as well as an anticipated increase in participant numbers.

The studies conducted so far were evaluated last year, leading to many institutions implementing the recommended measures in both their branding and operations. “We have observed positive developments in the implementation of research recommendations,” Abinet remarked.

He also indicated that senior officials from the Addis Ababa City Administration, members of the academy’s board of management, academicians, and other stakeholders will attend the two-day event.
