
ADDIS ABABA – People from various parts of Oromia State gathered to celebrate the historic April two, marking the anniversary of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s (PhD) inauguration.
The event held at Koye Feche Sub-city in Shagar City, was attended by key officials and community members.
Speaking at the occasion, Caffee Oromia Spokesperson Sada Abdurhaman highlighted that April two symbolizes the dawn of prosperity and the beginning of a transformative journey undertaken with great sacrifice.
Sada emphasized that the day represents significant political and economic achievements, marking a turning point in saving the country from crisis and introducing a new political philosophy centered on ethnic unity and brotherhood. “Participatory political culture, fraternity, and multinationalism have taken root on this historic day,” she noted.
Shagar City Mayor Tashome Adunga(PhD) remarked that April two is not only a day of victory but also a moment of multifaceted achievements across Ethiopia.
“The establishment of Shagar City is one of the major accomplishments resulting from this momentous day. It also marked the beginning of comprehensive prosperity,” he stated.
The 14th anniversary of the laying of the cornerstone for the Abbay dam was also commemorated alongside the April two celebrations.
On the occasion, the Office of the National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation to the Construction of Abbay Dam Director General Aregawi Berhe(PhD) described the dam as a symbol of unity and cooperation among Ethiopia’s diverse nations and nationalities. He underscored the importance of resolving disagreements through dialogue and negotiations.
According to Aregawi, with the combined efforts of the Ethiopian government and its people, the construction of Abbay dam has now reached 98% completion.
“The Abbay dam has demonstrated that Ethiopians can achieve great things when they unite. It is a monumental legacy that we will pass on to future generations. The dam has paved the way for further development initiatives, inspiring us to construct hundreds of similar projects in the future,” he stated.
The celebration concluded with a call for continued unity and commitment to national development.
