Council‘s Eid messages on peace, generosity

ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council (EIASC) has called on Muslims to promote peaceful coexistence and extend support to those in need while observing Eid Al-Fitr.

In his message marking the 1446th Eid holiday, EIASC President Sheikh Haji Ibrahim Tufa emphasized the importance of sustaining the unity and cooperation demonstrated during the holy month of Ramadan. He urged the Muslim community in Ethiopia and beyond to strengthen their solidarity and extend their generosity.

Sheikh Haji Ibrahim highlighted the significance of sharing the blessings of Ramadan by giving Zakat al-Fitr to the less fortunate, in accordance with Islamic teachings and Sharia principles. He also underscored that peace is a universal value that transcends religious and social boundaries.

“Peace is a fundamental necessity for all aspects of life. It is both the beginning and the end of everything,” he remarked, reinforcing the need for continuous efforts to maintain harmony and mutual respect.

Expressing gratitude to the government and other institutions for their support during the Iftar program, Sheikh Haji Ibrahim urged all members of society to contribute to ongoing peace initiatives. He noted that these efforts have fostered unity among Muslim communities in various parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the Federal Supreme Sharia Court extended its Eid greetings to Muslims in Ethiopia and around the world, wishing for a peaceful and joyous celebration.

According to the court’s statement, the 1446th Eid Al-Fitr will be observed on March 30 if the Crescent Moon is sighted on Saturday, March 29. Otherwise, the celebration will take place on March 31.

The EIASC encourages all Muslims to mark the occasion by embracing peace, unity, and generosity.
