
• Partners with Hybrid Designs PLC for further job growth
ADDIS ABABA – The Ministry of Labor and Skills (MoLS) has announced that Ethiopia is generating an average of 3.5 million job opportunities annually.
To further bolster job creation and skills development, MoLS and Hybrid Designs PLC (RIDE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, MoLS Minister Mufriat Kamil attributed the significant job growth to the expanding private sector.
“The ongoing expansion of the private sector and other contributors has significantly boosted job opportunities,” she stated. “Over the past years, the country has averaged 3.5 million new jobs, encompassing local, remote, and overseas positions.”
She further noted that in the first eight months of the current fiscal year, approximately 3.2 million jobs were created. This surpasses the initial projection of two million jobs annually outlined in the country’s ten-year development plan, a result attributed to the robust growth of the private sector. The Minister emphasized the government’s focus on creating skilled-led employment opportunities. Over the pas six years, the government has prioritized establishing conducive environment for private sector participation through financial support, policy reforms, and the implementation of new strategies.
The MoU aims to facilitate the private sector’s role in developing essential skills through training. Minister Mufriat Kamil expressed appreciation for Hybrid Designs PLC’s contribution to job creation.
The Hybrid Designs PLC Founder and CEO Samrawit Fikru reported that RIDE has already generated approximately 120,000 job opportunities.
She stated that the five-year partnership with MoLS will significantly expand job creation through new projects beyond the RIDE service, targeting youth, women, and vulnerable groups.
She affirmed the company’s commitment to creating thousands of jobs by introducing new technologies, particularly within the GIG economy.
