Bureau ensures timely distribution of agri’l inputs

ADDIS ABABA –The Oromia Bureau of Agriculture has announced the timely distribution of agricultural inputs to enhance productivity in the upcoming crop season.

In a press conference held yesterday, Bureau Head Bariso Feyisa stated that his bureau has finalized the distribution of essential agricultural inputs, including fertilizers, pesticides, and chemicals.

“Our commitment to improving agricultural productivity in Oromia is unwavering. By providing farmers with the right resources and extended support, we are paving the way for a successful crop season that will not only boost yields but also strengthen the livelihoods of our communities,” said Bariso.

He also noted that collaborative efforts are being made to transform agriculture in the region from the traditional system to a mechanized one.

Kegna Financial Institution and Siinqqe Bank are working closely to provide loans to farmers and unions for the purchase of tractors and combine harvesters, according to the Bureau Head.

He further added that loans will also be available for farmers facing financial difficulties in purchasing fertilizers.

Regarding pricing, Feyisa acknowledged that price fluctuations have been a major challenge in the past. To address this issue, a fixed price has been set for fertilizers.

He also noted that Ethiopia’s coffee export potential is growing rapidly, contributing significantly to the economy. The nation is implementing new post-harvest systems to enhance the competitiveness of its coffee products in the global market.

Additionally, he emphasized the need for nationwide cooperation to prevent delays in bringing products to market. “We need our export coffee products to reach the global market on time and must operate at the same pace as countries like Vietnam, Colombia, and Brazil,” he underscored.
