Addis’s rapid dev’t benchmark for other African nations: Diplomats

ADDIS ABABA – Attendees of the AU Executive Council meeting and AU Summit commented that Ethiopia is accelerating development at an impressive pace, inspiring other African countries.

Attendees of the AU Executive Council meeting and the Assembly told local media that they witnessed remarkable changes in Ethiopia, particularly in Addis Ababa’s infrastructure expansion.

Jeff Sehume (PhD) from South Africa said that the capital’s corridor development and infrastructure work demonstrates Ethiopia’s growth as the seat of the African Union.

The infrastructure development is a sign that Ethiopia is growing, he said, while expressing hope that this development will further strengthened.

Sehume stated that Addis Ababa has received him with a warm welcome and the city is now more beautiful and clean than it was before.

He said that Ethiopia, a country that has never been colonized, is witnessing beautiful changes in its capital, including infrastructure construction and developments that reflect its rich history.

Samantana, from Ghana said that Addis’s climate and hospitality are pleasant.

As the hub of Africa, Addis Ababa is embracing change. The cleanliness of the city’s streets is impressive, he added.

Kaamil Alli, from South Africa, said that Ethiopia’s capital is one of the most wonderful cities he has ever seen. He noted that Ethiopia’s history as the only uncolonized African nation is reflected in the city’s unique character. “When we look at Addis Ababa, we find it to be a city that reflects this. The development works being carried out to beautify Addis Ababa are impressive.”

He said that Ethiopia’s development is a model for other African nations and the country is playing its role in implementingthe development agendas of the African Union.

Addis Ababa is rapidly developing and evidences are everywhere that efforts have been made to redevelop the city in a new way. “We have also been able to see that the development is all-encompassing.”

Sehume added that Ethiopia’s progress is admirable and a lesson for other African countries. The country’s success shows that it is indeed Africa’s time to take its place in the 21st century.
