Ethiopia has regional initiative of ensuring grid connectivity with 14 nations: President

Ethiopia has made significant strides in expanding its power generation and trans­mission infrastructure. With current installed capacity exceeding 6,000 megawatts, the country aims to reach 13,000 megawatts by 2028, requiring the electrification of an average of 3.4 million households annually.

Ethiopia set an ambitious national program to realize universal electricity access by 2028. Ethiopia’s ambitious plan is not limited to achieve universal access at home but also to connect with 14 countries through grid connectivity.

The ambitious investment in the power sector requires an annual investment of 1.8 billion USD and Ethiopia is undertaking domestic resource mobilization to achieve its goals.

                    Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy transforming digital sector: DPM

The Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy, under implementation since mid-2020, is successful in laying a foundation for economic growth and digital transformation. Thanks to the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy, Ethiopia has already reached at a stage of building an inclusive digital economy.

To further accelerate digitalization, Ethiopia is on the way to develop Digital Government Strategy and the Electronic Commerce Strategy. As the Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy is nearing to end, preparations are already underway for the development of the Digital Ethiopia 2030 Strategy.

                        –  Ethiopia’s all-weather road coverage exceeds 170,000km: PM Office

Ethiopia’s current all-weather road coverage already exceeds 170,000km, expanding it from 126,000 kilometers to 170,000 kilometers in just six years. Federally administered new asphalt roads alone cover 26,722km.

The federal government’s projects initiated and implemented during the past six years are currently at various stages of completion. The extensive road investment in urban and rural areas, including bicycle lanes, is improving mobility and accessibility.

                           – Finance sector deposit reaches 2.74 trillion Birr: Governor

Currently, the deposit of the finance sector in Ethiopia has reached 2.74 trillion Birr, an indication of local banks development. Ethiopian banks are registering sustainable progresses from year to year in financial deposit as well as in their general financial system.

Recently, Ethiopia approved new policy that allows foreign banks entry to Ethiopia. The new policy aims to create competitiveness in the banking industry and to develop the bank industry’s role for the national economy.

Opening up the banking sector to foreign investment does not mean that local banks will face troubles. It promotes healthy competition, introducing new technologies, implementing new practices and services in the banking industry that would enhance the sector’s development as well as its contribution to the economy.

                      -Corridor development project underway in 56 urban centers: GCS Minister

Learning from the success of Addis Ababa Corridor Development Project, 56 cities and urban centers are now undertaking Corridor Development projects. The successful corridor development project implemented in Addis Ababa is an outcome of the synergy in idea, leadership and resident’s strong participation.

By taking the experience from the successful corridor development project in Addis Ababa, urban based corridor development is expanding across the country. The corridor development project is bringing meaningful changes in changing the image of the urban areas and benefiting the residents.

Ethiopia is home to wonderful resources and the development projects like corridor projects are unveiling the hidden resources.
