ADDIS ABABA –Despite challenges in the 2023/24 budget year, the Amhara State Mines Resources Development Bureau disclosed that it has created over 25,200 jobs in the mining sector.
In addition to its auspicious economic contribution to the state, Bureau Deputy Head Abeba Getaw told the local media that the state has been aggressively working on creating decent jobs,. By doing so , the state managed to create about 25,233 jobs during the last fiscal year.
According to the bureau, it has carried out 93% of its annual plan of artisanal mining , minerals value addition, and others in the sector.
The bureau highlighted that this significant achievement amid security threats would be a testament for the sector’s immense potential if it is properly manipulated and harnessed.
Moreover, the bureau has issued mineral exploration and mining production licenses for investors who have registered about 6.2 billion Birr capital, it was stated.
It is to be recalled that the Bureau has reiterated the security problem in the state that significantly disrupted many mining operations, leading to deficiencies in conducting mining-related studies, issuing investment permits to applicants and other interventions in the sector across the state.
