ADDIS ABABA– Youth play an essential role in national development and resilience, according to institutional leaders, who called on them to lead Ethiopia towards prosperity.
Speaking to the Ethiopian Press Agency (EPA), Ethiopian Youth Council Coordination Division Head and Addis Ababa Youth Association Secretary General Yihune Mohammed emphasized that the youth are the future of the nation and have a crucial role in building a stronger Ethiopia.
Yihune also noted that while predecessors laid the foundation, and children symbolize hope, today’s youth hold the power to drive Ethiopia forward in its socioeconomic, political, and cultural journey. He encouraged the younger generation to stay informed on national matters, face challenges head-on, and turn obstacles into opportunities to ensure a prosperous country for posterity.
Highlighting the sacrifices made by past generations regardless of ethnicity or religion, Yihune urged the youth to preserve the unity and strength that Ethiopia was built upon. He also called on young people to be productive, skillful, and actively contribute to promoting the nation’s image.
Belay Nigussie, Founder and Chief Executive of the Askal Charity Association, added that the youth are the bridge between generations, entrusted with carrying Ethiopia’s sovereignty forward.
“It’s the right time to invest in the youth, nurturing them to make wise and impactful decisions for Ethiopia’s bright future,” Belay said, encouraging young people to enhance their critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovative skills to protect the nation’s interests and reputation.
