Hibret Bank takes root in Green Legacy

ADDIS ABABA– Hibret Bank is actively participating in Ethiopia’s national Green Legacy Initiative by planting both indigenous and foreign seedlings since the inception of the tree plantation program.

Beyond its banking services and corporate social responsibility efforts, the bank is committed to the national tree planting campaign, said Tsigereda Tesfaye, Senior Deputy CEO of Operations at Hibret Bank. Yesterday, the bank’s senior management and staff planted seedlings at the ICT Park.

Tsigereda expressed the bank’s pride in being part of Ethiopia’s tree plantation campaign, emphasizing the significance of this initiative in combating climate change at both national and global levels. “Our marketing department will monitor the growth of the planted saplings, and we will continue to support this green initiative in the future,” she noted.

She highlighted that the planted trees offer numerous benefits, including providing food, enhancing the environment’s beauty sustainably, conserving biodiversity, and leaving a positive environmental impact.

Dereje Kebede, Deputy CEO of Business at the bank, told journalists that Hibret Bank has been involved in every annual tree planting campaign to date, contributing significantly by planting numerous seedlings. “With the world facing climate change, it’s our collective responsibility to engage in tree planting efforts continuously,” he stressed. “We are committed to implementing the government’s tree plantation program nationwide and playing our part in tackling climate change in Ethiopia.”
