I don’t know about you; but I for one am more and more confused about this one world one government project.’ (It’s a project isn’t it?) I mean despite all the flowery presentations of supporters things like “You own nothing, and you’re happy!” sort of narratives leave you flabbergasted. “I’ll have nothing and I still would be happy! What kind of joke is this?” You know, such talk coming mostly from groupings of the filthy rich you wonder what is cooking behind the scenes.
And I try to learn more by surfing the net which, if you’re not careful and vigilant, could sand you to the nearest mental institution. Recently someone representing some sort of digital currency body was saying that whether we like it or not ‘the chip’ would be inserted in our hands! You’d be pardoned to think “So, they are already planning to use the strong-arm tactics.
Well in our wilder fantasies we might think somewhere down the line a revolution will occur with the main slogan, “You lose nothing but the chip in your hands!” (Well, after all, the chains those three guys told us would break and we’d be free seem to be still holding tight! Hmm! maybe someone should come with the sequel!)
I mean we’re living in a highly polarized world. Well wishes aside for the good of all human kind aside there are no signs that things would improve anytime soon. In fact the fear is the worst is yet to come and anyone trying to convince us about the blessings of a one world government has maybe the staunchest of guts or they are living in a fantasy world having turned their backs to the reality.
Look, I’m not trying to take a stand about something about which I don’t claim full, clear unadulterated knowledge. But there are more questions and confusions than answers. They say this concept of a one word government and/or the New World Order is not a recent phenomenon. But that isn’t the issue, is it?
H. G. Wells of the ‘1984’ fame is quoted as saying, “It is the system of nationalist individualism that has to go….We are living in the end of the sovereign states….In the great struggle to evoke a Westernized World Socialism, contemporary governments may vanish….Countless people…will hate the new world order….and will die protesting against it.” Scary!
It’s written in one piece, “The ‘New World Order’ conspiracy posits that a global elite is trying to implement a single world government. Conspiracy theorists claim this is being achieved through manufactured crises, with the COVID-19 pandemic seen as one such man-made attempt to exert undue control over civilians.” Yes many believe that a group of filthy rich individuals who have done and experienced anything and everything on this planet of ours wanted a new game where they could flex their financial muscles and “voila!” the ‘one word government’ idea comes. Well that might sound a little harsh depending on who’s commenting.
One supporter writes; “At this current time (2020) the world is composed of 195 squabbling Nation States plus a few exclave territories. As a result, there are 195 military contingents, nearly 195 different currencies, 195 artificial borders and so on. Nation Statism and Empire Building have been around as long as humankind has had the capacity to look beyond a solitary dwelling but despite those things being a driving societal force, they are also a liability in terms of wasted and inefficient usage of resources. Why haven’t we considered humankind to be one race and act accordingly?”
Nice words; on paper that’s very nice. I mean wouldn’t’ it be very nice if we indeed begin thinking humanity as one race! At the risk of some suspecting this writer as yet another pessimist dude with a keyboard I still say that isn’t going to happen anytime soon; especially not while this world is so fragmented and flashpoints are actually increasing all over the place rather than decreasing. We are already talking about a possible Third World War drawing ever closer! Wouldn’t talking about a possible one world government fly in the face of such facts and sound premature?
One guy shoots back;
“We often barely care about our neighbors, let alone for the human suffering on the other side of the world. Given this, the prospects for a functioning world government are not good. The real question is whether we survive without one?”
Another fellow writes; “The ‘New World Order’ conspiracy theory argues that a shadowy elite force is trying to implement a totalitarian world government. Proponents of the ‘New World Order’ conspiracy believe a cabal of powerful elite figures wielding great political and economic power is conspiring to implement a totalitarian one-world government. It is believed that this is taking place through a grand ongoing conspiracy to influence the media, press, civil society and democracy from the shadows. Many major world events and crises are attributed to the ‘New World Order’.”
The debate goes on. Here are two opinions the first optimistic, the second pessimistic.
“Imagine taking a high-speed maglev train from London to St Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow, the Forbidden Palace in Beijing, or across the Bering Strait to the US, utterly free from war, borders, or hostile governments. Imagine a world where an international court resolved regional disputes rather than guns or nuclear warheads. Imagine a world where criminals and politicians couldn’t hide behind nationalistic dog whistling to protect them from their crimes. Of course, a world government may seem far-fetched to many people, perhaps even a little scary. Still, global democracy may be the only hope to achieve world peace and an optimistic future for humankind.”
“Will there ever be world government? I hope not. In the least bad scenario it would have a democratic basis, but politicians elected to a world government would almost inevitably become so remote and out of touch with the people they are supposed to serve that it would probably degenerate into the more likely scenario: the dystopia of a world dictatorship, where all of humanity is controlled by force by a political elite.”
Yes the debate goes on. We only hope we orient ourselves enough to join the debate.
