With tenacious persistence and resolute determination,
We pushed ahead, unfazed by hurdles or opposition,
Now the imminent completion of Abay Dam holds the key,
To unlocking progress and prosperity, for all the world to see.
Though obstacles and roadblocks loomed in our quest,
With unwavering resolve and elegance we pressed,
Now on the cusp of Abay Dam’s completion we draw near,
Unfaltering, hopeful, and filled with unrestrained cheer.
More than a decade ago it began, an inspiration,
A breathtaking vision, a marvel beyond imagination,
With ceaseless labor and the river’s constant flow,
A project of hope and affection started to grow.
On Ethiopia’s faces, smiles erupted in delight,
Erasing past regrets, drying tears with might,
For now, worry over past obstacles has ceased,
Only optimism and unbridled progress have increased.
Abay Dam accomplished the unexpected feat,
Uniting people in perfect harmony, oh so neat,
With euphoric joy and a sense of sheer delight,
Dispersing shadows with rays of radiant light.
May Abay Dam’s walls magnificently soar,
May the turbines never cease to roar,
May its legacy resound as a source of hope and light,
Guiding Ethiopia towards progress, success, and might.
