WOLAITA SODO – “One Peace Fashion” festival that was kicked off Sunday showcased the growing demand in redesigned traditional outfits in domestic and international market, said Senait Mario is a model, originally from Ethiopia and based in Italy specifically working in fashion modeling.
On the occasion, she displayed clothes designed by her owns and said that most of the traditional clothes are attractive and colorful.
Talking about her clothes fashion, compared to the traditional clothes that prepared to special events, “This style can be easily used in day to day activities,”
Senait expressed that organizing the fashion show made her pleasant as it was being held in front of the people of her motherland. She also disclosed her gratitude to different stakeholders for their cooperation in organizing the event.
On the occasion, Wolayita Zone Administrator, Dagato Kumbe said that Wolayita people is hard working and great people that had issued its own currency in the early times.
“Wolayita rulers had been elected by the people, handed over leadership peacefully to their successors and withdrawn by the people in case if they fail to rule properly. Through this culture of governance, the people of Wolayita had introduced democratic thoughts for the nation and the rest of the world.”
In his remark, Dagato praised Senait for organizing the festival that promotes peace and friendship among people locally and globally. The festival also plays great role in introducing the town’s investment attractions. Some investments have been already gone operational. The administrator also called on additional investors to come to Wolayita, to benefit themselves, the Zone and the country.
Wolayita people who had been ruled by over fifty kings of its own are known for peace loving and hospitality. It has also its own traditional cloth knitting system, according to the administrator.
Today, it is gaining popularity amongst Ethiopian costume fashion designers. The fashion clothes that comprised the traditional and modern textile style displayed in the occasion are designed by Model and Designer Senait who was introduced into the market of fashion industry in early 2007. Different officials from federal government, Wolaita Zone administration and representatives from the government of Italy attended the festival; The festival was organized in collaboration with Wolaita Zone administration in Wolaita Sodo town, it was learnt.
