ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian U-18 and U-20 athletes who took part in the Junior African Championship that was staged in Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast collected 30 medals in all. The cotingent brought six gold, ten silver and 14 bronze medals. .
The week long championship began on 16 April and closed on Sunday. The Ethiopian delegation complained for poor organization. As expected the Ethiopian athletes gained medals in this championship more than it was before.
The Ethiopians emerged victorious in the World Cross Country Championship that was held in Denmark.
As indicated by the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, EAF, the Ethiopian contingent had shown strong performance in this continental event.
Junior athletes are the future citizens who represent the country in the days ahead. Having brave and victorious young athletes means a guarantee for the country’s future, the federation asserts.
