“The last five days had been a journey of solidarity with the Ethiopian people. When we find peace, we can begin the journey back to economic recovery, and the restoration of dignity and livelihoods,” said UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed in a press briefing after concluding her visit to war affected areas in Ethiopia.
Amina who recently visited Afar, Amhara, Somali and Tigray states together with President Sahlework Zewde, also suggested the need to extending more humanitarian support to people affected by the war and drought. In her visit, Amina has discussed with war victims, and leaders of the regions.
UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed and President Sahlework Zewde while visiting drought-stricken Somali region During her visit to Amhara state, she said, “the price for conflict is too high, and therefore, peace is indispensable.” She pointed out that the upcoming National Dialogue would bring lasting peace to the country if Ethiopians entertain it properly. Amina also added that she will hold up with the Ethiopian people to this end.
By the same token, Amina’s Organization had provided more over 18 million USD support to people affected by drought in Somali regional state. It has also set to allocate additional 20 million USD to the same purpose.
Consoling victims of war
Visiting war thorn and drought-stricken areas together with the Deputy Secretary General, President Sahlework Zewde has talked and solaced the victims in the Afar, Amhara and Somali regions. As shown in the picture below, the president consoled victims who are getting medical treatment at Dubti Hospital in Afar region. The president discussed with Afar state President Awel Araba and other leaders of the community.
CBE’s skyscraper inaugurates today
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) is inaugurating its 53 floor Headquarters in Addis Ababa. The tallest skyscraper of the region perceived as an illustration of the 80 year-long journey of the bank, CBE President Abe Sano said.
