Ethiopians regardless of age, sex and ethnic background are yet demonstrating against atrocities and foreign pressures. Last Sunday, a demonstration that was held at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa condemned the violence and rape committed by the terrorist TPLF on women. “All those who are showing the peak of heroism for Ethiopia to win deserve great respect and praise,” mayor of Addis Ababa city Adanech Abebie said on the occasion.
The mayor said, “We should arresst violence against women and children with the idea of “I am the guardian of my sister “. The violence committed on women and children is unforgivable, said the demonstrators while condemning the human and material loss that the terrorist TPLF has caused in Amhara and Afar States.
On the other hand, the government is working on combating foreign pressure through strengthening national unity. On Thursday, the office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia held the Addis Weg discussion forum themed “enduring development, ensuring existence”. On the occasion, Ministry of Foreign Affairs State Minister Ambassador Redwan Hussein underlined that every citizen must engage in finding a solution to lift up the country instead of looking for foreign support.
He indicated that the government will continue working with influential citizens to realize diplomatic success. Employing expenditure to consolidate unity is better by far than spending for winning a war one involved in impelled by others. To this end, it is a worthwhile to provide the youth a brief training on unity to enable them fit in national services.
Government Communication Service Minister Legesse Tulu (PhD) for his part stated that all citizens ought to work out their assignment to enable the country ensure national consensus by brushing aside the divide and rule rhetoric.
For Finance Minister Ahmed Shide, the country needs a legitimate nation state that has the recognition of the general people and capable enough to manage social and political potentials. Therefore, Ethiopia’s prospective ought to be resisting the impact of the war and turning face towards development. In this regard, strengthening the remarkable performance of public enterprises and other organizations is advisable.
On 24 December 2021, Ethiopian Airlines announced that it has received IATA’s Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) certification as an airline and ground handling in December 2021. Accordingly, Ethiopian has become the first airline in Africa to receive the CEIV pharma certification.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said, “We are delighted to receive this important global certification which is a strong assurance of one of the highest global standards in the aviation and logistics industries.”
Ethiopian has been working hard on its Pharma and Life Science handling facility to meet global standards in technology, processes and trainings. The IATA CEIV Pharma Certification has come at an opportune time for Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics team as they continue to play key global role in the transportation of life saving COVID-19 vaccines around the world and particularly in Africa, he noted.
On 2 December 2021 the airlines had also been crowned as the ‘Best African Airline’ at the 2021 Business Traveller Awards. The votes made by the business travelers for this year took into account the COVID period with key questions covering airlines’ effectiveness in communication, effective implementation of COVID precautionary measures, handling of loyalty program member passengers and flexibility of ticket changes.
