ADDIS ABABA – The ‘Eyezon Ethiopia’donation platform has so far collected over two million USD as of yesterday 27th November 2021.
It is to be recalled that EyezonEthiopia.com donation platform has been launched recently with the hope of raising 5,000,000 USD to help assist war victim citizens in Ethiopia by the Ethiopian Diaspora Agency(EDA) in collaboration with Chapa Financial Technologies SC and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.
EDA disclosed that the Diaspora raised over two million USD in less than a month through the platform, adding that this shows the Diaspora’s readiness and potential to help the country as long as favorable conditions exist.
EDA also expressed its gratitude to the Ethiopians and those of Ethiopian descent who participated in the donation, and called on the Diasporas to continue their support and reaffirm their commitment to their country.
The name Eyezon is used to express sympathy. It is also to mean Eyes on Ethiopia, reminding of the urgent attention Ethiopia needs. Eyezon is a gift-based crowd funding platform that enables nonprofit organizations to raise money online from supporters with the causes they are passionate about. And the project is owned by EDA.
