We would stand by, and be loyal to our army forever

Ethiopians living at home and abroad have been showing their solidarity and togetherness for members of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces who are sacrificing their lives to defend the territory of the country and protect the peace and security of the people.

They have been showing their readiness and commitment in all possible ways including joining members of the army, donating blood, backing with the required financial and material support as well as uplifting the morale of the army as Ethiopians will not compromise on the existence and unity of the nation.

Currently, the support is carried out in more organized and concerted manner. Recently, Addis Ababa City Administration has donated 100 oxen and items (daily food ration) worth of 20 million Birr for members of the Defense Forces who are fighting with the terrorist TPLF group in Wollo warfront.

“You are giving your life selflessly and patriotically to maintain the unity of the country and protect the people. We are indebted to your altruistic deeds,” said Mayor Adanech Abebie while handing over the materials to the army.

In the efforts you are exerting to thwart the terrorists TPLF group who are running here and there to dismantle the country, you are not alone. “Aside from backing you through the needed support, we are ready to join the army and pay sacrifice,” she added.

Major General Habtamu Tilahun, Representative of Wollo Front Command Post Support Team Coordinator on his part said that the army would be a champion when the general people sustain the support and stand by the side of the national defense forces. Mentioning that the people have been supporting the army committedly and determinedly; he said this will further encourage the forces.

In the same manner, Ethiopians residing in Harari State vowed to further strengthen the support they are providing to members of the ENDFs who are sacrificing their lives to uphold the sovereignty of the country.

These days, the residents of the State are preparing food for members of the defense forces, militias and other security forces who are giving services in various fronts of the country.

Getenesh Roba is a resident of Shenkora Woreda. She was one of the residents who were preparing food for the army. As she stated to FBC, they are preparing various types of dried food (dabo kolo, beso and other food items) for the army with their own free will.

“We have to stand by the side of the government and support the development activities. Especially, at this point in time, we have to strengthen our unity to withstand both the internal and external wars and pressures the country is in now,” said Samia Yasin resident of this same Woreda.

More than anything else, the existence of the nation matters most and comes first. Thus, they prepare food items for member of the defense force, militias and security forces, Samia reiterated.

Melika Alim, Abadir Woreda resident also said they would stand together and support the government in every effort that is exerted to thwart the terrorist TPLF enterprise and its faction, OLF Shene.

“Apart from backing the defense forces, if necessary, I would join the army unhesitatingly; and go to warfronts to protect my country, said Senedu Zenebe who was preparing dried food for the army accompanied by other women.

These days, it must be a prime duty of the people to maintain the peace and security of the surrounding areas concurrent to backing the army, she added.
