Following the war waged by the terrorist TPLF group, hundreds of thousands people displaced, properties both private and public demolished, innocent people robbed, raped and massacred. The brutal atrocities the terrorist enterprise has committed against Ethiopia’s national defense forces and innocent civilians targeting to disrupt the peace and security of the people thereby to dismantle the country, has angered Ethiopians across the country and drive them to unite, join hands with the national forces and stand as one leaving behind their differences.
True, as it is known clearly and we learnt from our past experiences, unity is the best remedy in every effort to achieve the desired goal. Especially, at this a crucial point in time, uniting as one is decisive to thwart the terrorist TPLF enterprise and defend the peace and security of the nation.
With this same purpose – to further strengthen internal unity-, a people to people forum was recently held in Genda Weha Town in Gondar, Amhara State.
Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier General Nasser Abadiga, Commander of the 8th Mechanized Division of the Defense Forces, said that Terrorist TPLF faction has caused loss of life and property damages. As ENA reported, apart from this, the terrorists are working day in day out to create havoc among the people and disintegrate the country through disseminating misleading information. Though such white lies are the nature of the groups they are renowned and the strategy they practiced it for long, Ethiopians should turn a deaf ear to the rumors and conspiracies the enemy is spreading through strengthening internal unity and solidarity,
“The remnants of the terrorist enterprise are attempting day after day to create difference and cause hostility among nations and nationalities. Thus, it is necessary to abort the enemy’s conspiracy by strengthening internal unity,” underscored Brigadier General Nasser.
Ethnicity and religion should not be the cause of conflict. Thus, the people, instead of being over occupied by the false propaganda and hate speech spread by the terrorist group, it must strengthen its internal unity and thwart the enemy’s conspiracy, he stated.
Mentioning that the terrorist group has disrupted the peace and security of the people who have been living together for several decades with solidarity and unity, he said the terrorist junta has caused deaths and displacements of thousands of people plus properties damage to realize its cheap political gain and fulfill its egocentric interests.
Brigadier General Nasser also urged the people to play part in ensuring the rule of law through strengthening solidarity. The defense forces are striving persistently to ensure rule of law joining hands with other security forces. Stating that it was made possible to ward off the attack of the terrorist group through the unwavering support of the community, he called on the people to sustain their partnership in the fight carried out to destroy the enterprise irreversibly.
West Gondar Zone Prosperity Party Office Head Bikes Workie on his part said that communities of the zone should reinforce their unity and contribute share to detach the country out of the challenges it encounters at the present time.
“The terrorist forces had intended to make the zone a center of chaos. However, with the strong collaboration of the security forces and the people, majority of the enemies demolished and some compelled to retreat back to their place,” he said.
As to him, the extremists are a group of self-absorbed individuals and they are good for nothing. Knowing that, the people are fighting them unwaveringly; and they should further consolidate partnership and effort to ruins the enemies shoulder to shoulder to accelerating development.
Elder Genzeb Jember is a resident of Genda Water Zone. He said that the government should work committedly to curb the illegal activities observed in the zone.
“We will execute our responsibility accordingly to maintain peace in the zone all at once we would provide the necessary support in the fight against the terrorist group.”
The forum was attended by elders, religious fathers, security forces, zone and town’s administrators and government officials, ENA reported.
