The federal government has been craving for rebuilding Tigray State. The state has been experiencing humanitarian violation and infrastructural destruction orchestrated by the TPLF clique as witnessed by several local and international media and organizations. Withal, the government in collaboration with stakeholders is providing humanitarian assistance and reconstructing infrastructural facilities in the state. It also allowed the intervention of independent bodies to investigate human right violations.
“The Federal Government has taken the lead in providing humanitarian assistance for several months now with more than 84,000 metric tons, reaching 4.1million people in the region. Extensive rebuilding work is being undertaken in the region. Telecom and electricity lines have been repaired in most cities and towns. Banks are operating fully. Health centers have been opened and so have schools. As of yesterday, March 8, schools throughout the country, including the Tigray region, have sat for school leaving certificate examinations. The Provisional Administration is operational all the way down to the district level in many parts of the region and strengthening its capabilities to effectively provide public service.” Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed
“Unimpeded access granted to humanitarians and the media, including the joint investigation launched to probe into the alleged atrocities committed in the region. Despite all the positive developments in the region, smear campaigns from some corners against facts on the ground and disregarding the genuine efforts of government did not subside.” Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen
“The interim administration is currently mobilizing resources to restore damaged infrastructures and respond rapidly to humanitarian crisis in the region as people still need immediate assistance. Sporadic attacks carried out by small groups have continued as a challenge and the fake news and propaganda of TPLF are the other hindrances.” Tigray Interim Administration CEO Mulu Nega (PhD)
“We would like to impress on the donor agencies to increase their relief supplies because the need is very high. Any donor agency or the media need only to notify Ministry of Peace about their travel to access the region. The government has also promised to conduct collaborative investigation into human rights abuses. Whoever violates human rights will be investigated by the pertinent and independent authorities.” Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Amb. Dina Mufti
