Agency launches new IMIS

ADDIS ABABA – Central Statistics Agency (CSA) in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) unveiled a new multi-sectoral Integrated Management Information System (IMIS).

The web-based data portal system targets the dissemination of the country’s statistical information easily on the internet.

CSA Deputy Director-General Asalifew Abera told The Ethiopian Herald that developing an integrated information system becomes necessary to enable information seekers’ access to a variety of information through the internet.

The newly introduced IMIS helps to disseminate federal, regional state, and city administration sector offices timely information to the public, he added.

As to him, the IMIS is fundamental to deliver information via the digital media avoiding the traditional mechanism of paper, CD, and flash-based information dissemination.

“The reliability of information is guaranteed when utilizing the new IMIS. The new system allows users to easily access and use sample data, census, management records, and information gathered from other sources and use it for their intended purpose,” he said.

Utilizing IMIS saves time, energy, and money spent on data collection, according to him.

Accordingly, individuals and institutions that need information for various purposes can benefit from the new system from now on.
