ADDIS ABABA – The Amhara State Agriculture Bureau Natural Resource Conservation Directorate announced that the state was able to plant more than 190 million seedlings on a single day in a campaign launched at the 15 zonal administration.
Getachew Engidaagegnehu, Bureau’s Natural Resource Conservation Director told The Ethiopian Press Agency the State has registered staggering performance planting 190 million 734 thousand 799 seedlings in a daylight.
As to him, the state has been incumbent upon various duties to achieve such performance. Hence over the year It was possible to nurture 1.68 billion seedlings with the aim of afforesting 174 thousand hectares of land.
The tree plantation which was kicked off on June five was going strengthened as the season going more rainy rain, he said adding that on June five about 4.4 billion people from various segments of the society were able to participate in the state in general and rainy areas in particular.
Though landowners took the lion share in the tree plantation campaign, all people in the region including Chief of the State and religious leaders, the defense force, the state’s special force, local militias along the entire public have contributed their own and inscribed their fingerprints in the greenery legacy. He added.
He further said that achieving the tree plantation campaign will continue to be one of the principal and timely activities of the state in the rainy seasons coupled with providing care for seedlings that have been planted before.
As to Getacherw, since the time ushered a global pandemic COVID-19, the green legacy is being carried out under theme “ we plant seedlings shielding corona”. Involving both rural and urban societies, so far 4 hundred million seedlings have been planted in the state.
