Empowering repatriates: A timely call

There is no gainsaying the fact that whenever Ethiopians and Ethiopian origin residing in different parts of the world encounter predicaments, missionaries representing their country endeavor to get to the bottom of their problems in next to no time.

At present, quite a lot of Ethiopians residing in the length and breadth of the world have been introducing their country to the rest of the world. They leave no stone unturned to take the country to the next level of success. Furthermore, Ethiopians Diasporas residing in every nook and cranny of the world have been working hand-in-glove with the intention of contributing their share to their motherland.

Ethiopian Diasporas residing in a wide spectrum of the world have been standing by the side of their compatriots more than ever before. Above and beyond, they have been supporting Ethiopians residing in a wide array of Arab countries. Nowadays, as the world is in the era of the COVID-19, the incumbent has been assisting Ethiopians communities residing in various parts of the world.

Ethiopian Diasporas have been doing a great job to consolidate citizens’ relations time and again. They are also endeavoring well in alleviating the problems of citizens detained when they leave their country unlawfully.

Tsion Teklu, Foreign Affairs State Minister, said, “Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we have repatriated 72 persons from Abu Dhabi, 656 from Beirut, 3539 from Saudi Arabia, 1023 persons from Kuwait. Totally about 5290 were returned through airport. There might be additional ones with commercial flights,”

Making safe the rights and welfare of citizens abroad is of paramount importance in heartening them to successfullycarryout their respective accountabilities given that they themselves are considered as diplomats of their country.

“In the same way, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is predominantly carrying out a responsibility of harmonizing potential actors working for the growth and development of the country. What is more, it has been discharging its activities in collaboration with missionaries abroad, sector offices locally and stakeholders at various levels,” she added.

As Ethiopians leaving for abroad for a wide spectrum of reasons such as education, marriage, any other ways do absolutely have wealth, knowledge and expertise, they are capable of contributing a lot to the development and progress of their country in various facets.

“What our missionaries are doing is facilitating and coordinating such imperative moves to inject into the socio-economic and social spectrums of the nation,” she concluded.
