AUC Chair stresses inward-looking innovative approach

ADDIS ABABA- Africans should go beyond the present situation by preparing themselves for post-pandemic conditions in the world, stressed Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat in his declaration of AFRICAN LIBERATION DAY yesterday. There is an urgent need for Africa to develop new forms of resilience, he said, adding that Africa must stop expecting solutions from others.

The Chairperson indicated that by harnessing the resources of Africa with an innovative and inward-looking approach, Africa could adequately respond to the needs of its people.

“Its food dependency and insecurity are unacceptable and intolerable, as is the state of its road, port, health and educational infrastructure.

” He also expressed his opinion that the approach of inward-looking and self-reliance could become a catalyst for renaissance of Africa’s Nations, as it is when they are tested that nations and states truly emerge.

Meanwhile, he appreciated the specialized organs of the Union in charge of the strategy set for COVID-19 disease outbreak implementation, as well as the current Chairperson of the Union, His Excellency Cyril Ramaphosa, for the pertinent initiatives taken as well as all member states for taking appropriate measure in line with the continental strategy.

There is no nobler manner of celebrating Africa Day than by initiating the intellectual, moral and political venture, which is essential for the genuine renaissance of our dear Continent, he said.
