PM Abiy visits seedlings raised in Oromia

ADDIS ABABA (FBC) – Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed along with Chief Administrator of Oromia Regional State, Shemelis Abdissa, visited the status of tree seedlings raised for planting at the Sodere nursery site.

During the field trip, the Prime Minister said more than 5 billion tree seedlings are being raised in 3,800 sites for the upcoming annual planting season.

Planting of the seedlings will start in mid-June this year if the nation beats the spread of the coronavirus, he said.

Among the seedlings raised for planting purposes include avocado and mango, EBC reported.

Recalling that 4 billion tree seedlings were planted nationwide during last rainy season, he said, most of them have grown well due to better rainfall and proper protection.

According to the Prime Minister, the nation plans to plant up to 20 billion seedlings over the next four years, including the upcoming season.
