ADDIS ABABA – As the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is one of the precious instruments in their battle against poverty, Ethiopians will never stop thinking about finalizing the national project, so said MIDROC Ethiopia Chief AregaYirdaw (Ph.D.).
In an exclusive interview with the Ethiopia Press Agency reporters, Dr. Arega said that GERD is vital project to lift millions of Ethiopians out of poverty.
“Hence, we will never ease our focus on building and finalizing its construction. We need to continue our active participation until we see its completion.”
He also added that as Ethiopians continue their battle against COVID-19, they should also give due attention to GERD which would transform the structure of the country’s economy.
Understanding its multifaceted benefits, Dr. Arega said “we need to invest more in to the symbolic national project.”
He also reaffirmed that MIDROC Ethiopia will continue to support the construction of the Dam.
