President Sahlework discusses with Estonian Counterpart

ADDIS ABABA – President Sahlework Zewdie on Thursday held telephone conversation with her Estonian counterpart, President Kersti Kaljulaid on ways of containing the spread COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Office of the President, both presidents notes on steps being taken to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus pandemic

They agreed that a coordinated effort is needed in order to overcome this challenge.

President Kaljulaid appreciated the work of Ethiopian health extension workers in raising awareness and the initiative taken by Ethiopian Airlines to serve as a distribution hub for health commodities to various African countries.

She also highlighted the many initiatives being implemented in Estonia and in Europe to combat the spread of the virus.

President Sahlework elaborated on the many steps being taken to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 in Ethiopia and highlighted the country’s interest in implementing digital solutions in the fight against COVID-19.

She further stated that Ethiopia is interested in implementing the many innovative digital solutions that Estonia has garnered international acclaim for.
