ADDIS ABABA – The ruling Prosperity Party (PP) has expressed readiness to further revamp efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19. After three days of meeting the executive committee of the party has issued statement yesterday.
The statement indicated that the members have reached consensus as a party and government that there is no better national responsibility at this very moment. The statement further said it is important to make sure that the efforts to prevent COVID-19 do not clash with the overall efforts of building democratic system.
Hence, the measures to be taken at all levels should not contravene the ongoing journey of building democracy and should be considerate of the emergency situation which the pandemic calls for. The executive committee also underscored the need to do economic rehabilitation and market stabilization actions so that the sudden pandemic could not hamper the journey towards prosperity. There is also a need to prepare for any possible problem on the day to day life of the people due to increase of cost of living as well as to thwart any threat against national security and sovereignty that could be launched taking advantage of the pandemic.
