ADDIS ABABA – The Ethiopian Space Science Society announced that ETRSS -1 has showed Ethiopia’s a great opportunity in astrology and space science and it has been noted as one of the key achievements over the last 15 years.
This was said during the 15th General Assembly of Ethiopian Space Science Society ESSS which is taking place from O7- 08 March in Addis Ababa university school of technology.
Speaking at the occasion, General Manager of ESSS, Beza Tesfaye said that even though, Ethiopia joined the space science sector late, it was able to lunch the first multi spectral remote sensing satellite ETRSS-1 to which has proved Ethiopia’s promising potential in astrology owing to its topography coupled with government effort to equip the sector with skilled human capital.
‘‘ESSS currently working with National Aeronautics and space administration NASA to cope in line with the frame work international space science standards at all parameters,’’ she added. Mesenbet Shenkute, Board President of the ESSS on her presentation has elaborated the annual report in the achievements and setbacks on the sector.
‘’ we are working by giving due priority in building our human capital and financial capital which has been the main challenges in the sector partnering with the government giving due emphasis on developing well skilled human capital by partnering with local and international institutions to create a explore astrology and space,’’ as to her.
“We have gave short terms trainings aboard and local in various and Nasa to realise the set target of making Ethiopia a scientific society and making the country fully exploit multidimensional benefits of space science and technologies’’ she added.
‘’We are also working in empowering the young generation to help them utilize their potential by giving short term trainings and tours and conducting space science promotion activities collaborating with higher education institution’’ Mesenbet insisted.
ESSS board members, branch leaders, institutional members, space science clubs and individual leaders are participating on the two days program taking place from 07 – 08 with parallel events for adults and youth scientific presentations and photo exhibitions.
