Girls’ Boarding School striving to produce competent women: Principal

ADDIS ABABA– Etege Menen Girls’ Boarding School is striving to produce women with transformed capabilities and skills that match international standards, said School Principal Mulu Andarge.

Speaking to The Ethiopian Herald Mulu said the major vision of the Boarding School is to helping students become the best that they can be in their later lives. “We are helping them develop unique skills and aspirations that will drive them towards success.”

The Etege (Empress) Menen School offers the students opportunities to become self-sufficient and independent in their learning. It also helps them to build strong and practical communication skills.

Over 400 girls from the capital Addis Ababa’s public schools are attending the Boarding school.

“I had productive discussions with students and families and they are all happy with our services and efforts,” Mulu said.

The School has standardized educational facilities including well-organized laboratory and library and above all qualified instructors to help the girls excel beyond the ordinary.

The teachers and all staff workers are striving to ensure that the girls are immersed in an educational world where learning is central to all activities.

She also recognized the fact that women are receiving better encouragement these days. But besides assigning women in government positions, due emphasis needs to be given to build their capacity at all levels as they have an indispensable role in realizing national development agendas.

As compared to men, Mulu said, women are less inclined to engage in corruption, and hence are in a better position to discharge responsibilities with integrity.

Addis Ababa Education Bureau and City Administration are closely working with and supporting the school, the Principal added.
