MEKELE– The cemetery of the Italian military who killed in action at the battle of Adwa is now opened to tourists.
A large number of Italian tourists used to come to visit the cemetery, said Nebiyat Takele, Tourism and Marketing Expert for Tigray State Cultural and Tourism Office.
According to him, the cemetery is located at Enda Eyesus in Mekele and there are also over 540 Italian gravestones in the cemetery.
interest in visiting the cemetery and paying homage there during the Derg regime in 1978 by the Italian government and currently it is run by the Italian Embassy in Ethiopia.
