Secretary Pompeo to stop in Addis to discuss regional security, support reform

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopian is among the six countries in the itineraries of U.S. Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo slated for Feb.13-22, 2020, The Ethiopian Herald learnt.

During his stay in Addis from February 17-19, he will meet with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Sahlework Zewde to discuss joint efforts to promote regional security and support Ethiopia’s historic political and economic reform agenda, according to information obtained from the website of U.S. Department of State.

On Friday, February 14, Secretary Pompeo will arrive in Munich, before traveling to Dakar, Sen­egal and Luanda, Angola from, where he will be meeting Presidents of the countries, it states.

In his stop in Addis Ababa, Secretary Pompeo will also meet with African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat and deliver remarks. Lastly, the Secretary will travel to the Middle East, where he will stop in Saudi Arabiya and Oman.
