ADDIS ABABA –The Ethiopian Toll Roads Enterprise (ETRE) secured over 192 million Birr over the last six months of this fiscal year.
In an exclusive interview with The Ethiopian Herald, Enterprise Communication and Marketing Head, Zahara Mohammed said that out of 4,532,197 vehicles hosted on the express way, the Enterprise has earned 192 million Birr.
“The Enterprise earned over 181 million Birr from car toll, over 10 million from advertisement and car crane services.” According to Zahara, the enterprise has secured the money from Addis -Adama and Dire Dawa – Dewalle expressways.
While generating the money, the Enterprise has also created jobs for about 820 youths. She said, the Enterprise has accomplished 93 percent of its target and has played a key role in minimizing traffic accidents.
The expressway hosts over 24,000 vehicles per day. To make the road safer, the Enterprise has repaired the highway as well, she said. Addis –Adama and Dire Dawa – Dewalle expressways are pioneer pay roads in Ethiopia and East Africa.
