Agency creates more than 596 thousand jobs

ADDIS ABABA- Federal Urban Job Creation and Food Security Agency stated that 596, 229 jobs were created over the past six months.

And among those, close to 60 thousand jobs went to university and TVET graduate students, said Behailu Negussie, the Agency’s Communication Expert.

Mentioning that the Agency has registered promising performance in terms of implementing its plans over the last six months, he noted that in sectors like manufacturing, construction, urban agriculture, trade, and service sectors, it was able to create jobs for 406,453 citizens, which is 62.6 percent of its plan.

He further indicated that amongst the created jobs, close to 273 thousand were permanent jobs while the rest are temporary.

As for the Agency’s plan to create jobs through government megaprojects, it has provided jobs for 189, 776 citizens, of which, more than 81 thousand are permanent, said Behailu.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the Agency has offered short term training for more than 299 thousand fresh graduates and business starters to assist them get into a career, adding that around 245,737 women were beneficiaries of the overall job opportunity created by the Agency.
