Election Board passes political parties’ compliance directive

• Drafts over 30 directives

 ADDIS ABABA – The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) said it has ratified political parties’ compliance directive as per proclamation No. 1162/2019.

Among other things, the directive sets the requirements for registered regional and national parties for re-registration.

NEBE also told The Ethiopian Herald that over 30 other directives have been drafted.

Series of discussion with political parties preceded the ratification to enrich the document, whilst seven parties’ submitted inputs in writing, the Board announced on its Facebook account.The directive No. 003 /2012 has comprised of 23 articles.

Speaking to The Ethiopian Herald, NEBE Communication Advisor Soliana Shimelis said the remaining draft directives will be put to effect shortly after getting enriched by pertinent political parties and other concerned bodies.

Following the completion of all the manuals, the Board will reveal a timetable of election campaigning and polling, according to her.
