Pushkin Square-Gotera Interchange to see completion ahead of schedule

• 320-meter tunnel construction begins

ADDIS ABABA – A 1.5 billion Birr Chinese funded Pushkin Square-Gotera Interchange will see completion ahead of the original schedules, Addis Ababa City Roads Authority told The Ethiopian Herald.

Excavation tasks estimated to hit 25-30 thousand cubic meters has been undertaken so far for a 320-meter tunnel that has a depth of five meter, the Authority added.

Authority’s Communication Affairs Director, Tiumay Woldegebriel, said the pace of the construction could be taken as exemplary, ascribing it to a possible early conclusion of the majority of right-of-way tasks. The 3.8km road project, with a width of 30-45 meters, will have buss raid transit and two interchanges.

China First Highway Engineering Co., Ltd. is undertaking the construction of the project, financed Agency for International Economic Cooperation within China’s Ministry of Commerce. Both the construction and design works are originally scheduled to see completion in a two-and-half year time.
