10 March 2019 – Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 that was scheduled to fly from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya crashed six minutes after takeoff near the town of Bishoftu, Ethiopia killing all 157 passengers and crew aboard.

• Nov 23, 2019 – Sidama became Ethiopia’s tenth regional state after a landslide ‘YES’ vote in a referendum.
• Dec 2, 2019 – Ethiopia launched Homegrown Economic Reform Agenda.
• Dec 10, 2019 – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed received the Nobel Peace Prize for his role played in resolving the long-running conflict between neighbors Ethiopia and Eritrea. The first Ethiopian to be awarded the prestigious Nobel Prize, it had been a memorable year where many Ethiopians were awarded in various fields, including Freweini Mebrhatu, who was named CNN Hero of the year.
• Dec 20, 2019 – Ethiopia’s first-ever satellite, known as ETRSS-1, was launched on a Long March-4B carrier rocket at Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China’s Shanxi Province.
