Peace building, shared role

Of late, while sharing his childhood experience in a recently peace conference held at millennium hall, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Ph.D) says: “Considering that I was born in the underprivileged rural area, Beshaasha, people might think that I was from poor family. But, when I was a child, I have never go to shop or school on foot, I used to a car that can be operated though my imaginary thinking. I also used to sleep in an imaginary confortable bed, not on a mat made from straw.”

“I suggest youths to think and live beyond their current situation knowing that imagination has a power to set a better future,” Abiy advised.

Prime Minister Abiy forwarded a congratulatory message to the entire participants for investing their time on discussion regarding how to ensure sustainable peace and order in the country. In addition, addressing the conference, the Nobel Peace Laureate Abiy Ahmed has called on local business community members to work more on peace and support the country’s journey towards prosperity. He also honored participants drawn from various sectors to be proud as they are ambassador of peace to their beloved country.

As to the premier, recognizing individuals’ interests, knowing other’s language and cultural values as well as living without killing each other are the three basic requirements to live together. Therefore, the society should live together respecting such diversified values. It is Ethiopia’s season; thus Ethiopia will prosper more, he underlined.

Moferiat Kamil, Minister of Peace on her part stated that it is important to protect peace with no reservation as peace makes everyone profitable throughout life. “If we strive to avoid every conflict in the country, it is possible to bring sustainable peace across the nation and beyond,” she added.

“If spouses consider peace as common interest for their partner and could halt quarrelling each other, it is possible to strengthen social harmony; people should also coexist with the environment, nature and even with almighty,” Moferiat advised.

Moreover, in her statement, Muferiat called on all Ethiopians to work on sustaining peace since Ethiopia is more than the interests of the politicians. She also extended her appreciation for the committee for their initiative to prepare a forum for discussion and work on peace.

Cognizant of the fact that peace is a pillar for all; Ethiopian local business people are also playing their role on sustaining peace through organizing local business community members. According to Frealem Shibabaw, Chairperson of Ethiopian Business People’s Committee, the conference was conducted to increase discussion habit among individuals and groups so as to solve a given problem.

More than three thousand participants including business communities, religious leaders, elders, online activists, youth, and Media were attended the conference hosted last week at Millennium Hall under the theme; “Let’s Build Ethiopia to be conducive for all.”

As to Frealem, the conference was a scale up of dialogue that has been undertaken over the past several weeks and to be continued. She also said that the youths, religious leaders, business people, elders, activists, media and each individual at each corner of the country should strive for sustaining peace in the country.

According to her, the committee is also getting ready to establish stupendous institutions that are capable of creating jobs for youth across the nation through prioritizing peace. The conference not only aimed at economic importance but also its societal advantage. Because, business has no race, religion, and nationality; therefore, people who are engaging in different business activities should be engaged in safeguarding peace and stability in their community to realize peace at the grass root level, she noted.

“Accessing basic needs for rural area, empowering women, thinking for mothers, youth, elders and Diasporas, offering proper public service, and acknowledging honest civil servants should be prioritized by the government and the business community so as to build a conducive Ethiopia for all,” Frealem explained.
