ADDIS ABABA –Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed and President Isaias Afewerki deliberated yesterday on the ways to strengthening bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
Up on arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport yesterday the president welcomed by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed and other senior government officials.
Ethiopia and Eritrea signed peace deal following the appointment of Abiy Ahmed as Prime Minister of Ethiopia in April 2018. The agreement laid a foundation for new era of cooperation between the two countries, including re-establishing telecommunications, transport links and reopening of embassies.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was thankful for President Isaias while receiving the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, describing him as a “partner and comrade in peace”.
The two leaders have resolved the 20 years deadlock between the two countries following the 2018 peace treaty signed in Asmara.
