ADDIS ABABA-The Ethiopian cultural delegation led by Culture and Tourism State Minister Bezunesh Meseret received warm welcome in Keren, Eritrea where they are expected to present concert.
The delegation was greeted by Eritrean officials and counterparts upon arrival at the Asmara International Airport on Monday. Prior to Keren , the delegation was welcomed by Ambassador Zemede Tekle, Commissioner of Culture and Sports, Araya Desta, Permanent Representative of Eritrea to the Africa Union, Ethiopian Ambassador to Eritrea Redwan Hussen, as well as communities of culture and arts.
The delegation, which is comprised of more than 60 members, consists officials from the Ministries of Culture and Tourism and Foreign Affairs as well as artists and renowned singers and musicians. The cultural groups and artists will present concerts in Keren, Massawa and Asmara during their week-long stay, according to Yemane Gebremeskel, Eritrea’s Minister of Information Eritrean cultural groups had made similar tour in Ethiopia last April, he added.
Ethiopia and Eritrea signed a peace agreement just over a year ago after two decades of hostility. The two countries have now opened up diplomatic, telecoms and air transport links.
