Ethiopia expects 406 mln quintals of harvest

ADDIS ABABA – The Ministry of Agriculture is expecting over 406 million quintals of agricultural production during 2019/20 crop season.

Ministry, Public Relations Acting Director Daniel Dentamo said that the supply of agricultural inputs, seeds, market-oriented agricultural activities, line-sawing and cluster farming practices; coordinated efforts as well as active engagements of agronomists are enabling conditions to harvest the expected yield.

As to him, over three million hectares of land has been cultivated using cluster farming focusing on market-oriented crops such as sesame, wheat, maize and barley. He also added desert locust spread will not have a larger impact on the expected yield.
