ADDIS ABABA– Aimed at becoming preferred and renowned African logistics company by 2025, the Ethiopian Shipping and Logistics Service Enterprise (ESLSE) said it is working hard on offering capacity building, installing multimodal transport system and expanding dry ports.
ESLSE Communication Director Ashebir Nota told The Ethiopian Herald that ESLSE is on the way to create conducive environment for the consumers through using multimodal transport system through developing the logistics services and its qualities.
The multimodal transport system is helpful in terms of avoiding the long transport process as it provides seamless logistics services with reduced transaction cost, he added.
“We have been working to equip the company with latest technology and introducing various systems to save customers’ time. Now customers can easily find the logistics service wherever they live using smartphone.”
He went on saying that this technology has simplified the procurement process, simplified the fundraising process and avoided bureaucracy.
As to him, various dry port expansion efforts are underway. Seven dry ports are already gone operational. The first phase of the construction of the Woreta Dry Port is completed and it will be inaugurated soon.
ESLSE is toiling to provide more effective and speedy logistics services via working together with various stakeholders, the director indicated.
The countries which have bilateral agreements with Ethiopia like Djibouti, domestic investors, importers, exporters and the like should work cooperatively with ESLSE with a view to building a successful logistics system, he urged.
He said several train rides are crucial as the existing rail transport service is limited twice a day.
