GERD tripartite talks underway in Ethiopia

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt have resumed tripartite talks yesterday on the filling and operation of great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on outlined topics in Khartoum meeting , said Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy.

During the launching of the meeting Minister of Water, Irrigation and Energy Dr Eng. Sileshi Bekele, said the discussion would be held among him, Dr. Mohammed Abdel Aty, and Prof. Yasser Abbas representing, Ethiopia, Arab Republic of Egypt, and Republic of Sudan respectively.

Representatives from World Bank and USA are attending the meeting as observers. The closed meeting is set to be wrapped up today, it was learnt.

According to Sileshi the main topic of the meeting is a continuation of previous dialogues held in Khartoum, the Republic of Sudan.

Currently, construction of the dam has reached 69.39 percent, added Seleshi.
