1494th Mawlid festivity celebrated across the country

ADDIS ABABA— The 1494th Mawlid festivity, the observance of the birthday of Prophet Mohammed has been celebrated by Muslim followers throughout the country yesterday.

The festival was celebrated through different religious rituals and traditions among the Muslim comunuity. In Addis Ababa, the holiday was celebrated with the presence of Ethiopian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs President Mufti Haji Umer Indris, senior government officials and crowds of Muslim followers.

On the occasion, Mufti Haji urged the Muslim to help the needy and pray for peace and unity. “When celebrating the birth of Prophet Mohammed, peace and unity should be practiced and that the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad should be applied,” he said.

Presidents of different States have also conveyed their good wish messages in the occasion of Mawlid celebrations across all parts of Ethiopia.
