ADDIS ABABA– Addis Ababa received two luxurious hotels amidst the upcoming 32nd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union due to be held February 10th- 11th, named Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa and Skylight Hotel.
The Hyatt Hotels Corporation Tuesday announced that the opening of the 188-room property Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa; the first Hyatt branded hotel in Ethiopia and the seventh in Africa. During the opening ceremony, Heddo Siebs, General Manager said; “we are excited to celebrate the opening of Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa and to introduce the brand to Ethiopia,” said, Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa.
“We are confident that our loyal World of Hyatt members and global travelers will feel welcomed the moment they arrive and we look forward to serving them delicious blends of local flavors, while also offering an array of live entertainment.”
The Ethiopian Aviation Group also announced that it has finalized the USD 65 million worth five star, Ethiopian Skylight Hotel and set to inaugurate on the concussion of the African Union Ordinary Summit in the Headquarters of the Continental body here in Addis Ababa.
Abraham Tesfaye, Ethiopian Airlines Group Infrastructure Planning and Development manager told The Reporter recently that all the civil work has been completed and the hotel is fully furnished. Laying on 42,000sqm of land in front of the Millennium Hall off Africa Avenue, the building has eight floors. Ethiopian Skylight Hotel has 373 guest rooms and three restaurants – a Chinese restaurant, an Ethiopian restaurant and a European restaurant. The hotel has three bars – lobby bar, executive (rooftop) bar, and a Jazz club.
Twenty-seven of the guest rooms are spacious suites. The hotel encompasses a grand ballroom designed to accommodate 2,000 persons convenient for conference and wedding parties. It also has five meeting rooms which can accommodate 20-30 persons. The entrance of the grand hotels to the service market is expected to raise the tourism business in the country which is largely been criticized for lack of enough hotel services.
