ADDIS ABABA – Former Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn received recognition known as ‘Gifata Award’ for his outstanding political leadership and achievements in academia at the ceremony held in Wolayita Zone of SNNP State yesterday.
Hailemariam received locally-made gifts that symbolize his success story in politics and a portrait for his notable contribution to the establishment of Wolayita Sodo University.
In his acceptance speech, the ex-Premier said that the prize ceremony would have a positive role in maintaining the ongoing reforms and enhancing national unity.
Noting that today is the time of forgiveness, Hailemariam asked the public’s apology for the mistakes he made during his premiership and he reaffirmed his commitment to play active role in ensuring public benefit onwards.
In the ceremony held under the theme: “Our Role Models are our Assets,” it was stated that 45 individuals including the former Prime Minister awarded for their
extraordinary achievements in politics, trade and business, art, education, culture, and religion as well as medical sector.
